12 moments this year →

The Massacre in Trhová Kamenice occurred on 8 May 1945 in what is now the Czech Republic. Prior to the massacre, in the midst of the Prague uprising, a similar uprising broke out in the town of Trhová Kamenice on 5 May; 30 German soldiers residing there were disarmed and interned in a local school building after the surrender of their commander. The partisans, less than 30 in number and armed with light weapons, hid on both sides of the road behind the village of Rohozná, about two kilometres (1.2 miles) north of Trhová Kamenice, and prepared barricades.
