Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale

Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale (Punjabi: [d͡ʒəɾnɛːlə̆ sɪ́ŋɡə̆ pɪ̀ɳɖrãːʋaːɭe]; born Jarnail Singh Brar; 2 June 1947– 6 June 1984) was a Sikh militant. After Operation Bluestar, he posthumously became the leading figure for the Khalistan movement, although he did not personally advocate for a separate Sikh nation. He was the fourteenth jathedar or leader, of the prominent orthodox Sikh religious institution Damdami Taksal.
